To say that Sea Ray has a better re-sale value than Regal is an unprovable statement.
Regal boats vs sea ray. There are several different issues to consider. First there is a 2 foot difference in LOA but the weight is similar in both boats Regal 2450 4500 lbs dry vs SeaRay 4300 lbs dry. The performance of the Chap is a lot better than the SR I had.
Theyre both big enough for two making a couples weekend very doable. The cabin hatches in the Regal were made of flimsy plastic with cheap hardware. I cant go any bigger than the 48 models.
The cabinets and hardware were an inferior grade compared to the Sea Ray materials. Bayliner is owned by Sea Ray now and is their bottom level pleasure boat line. These models were pretty nifty because they had a convertible V-berth up front and a small berth tucked beneath the deck.
The Regal and the Sea Ray include a retractable feature within the hard top thats a nice feature. The Sea Ray had a real problem with pitching side to side when taking waves. A 175 is a very small boat and underpowered at that you will outgrow it very quickly like around the 2nd trip.
We have a Regal 38 Bridge now with the Yanmar diesels. Used boats sell for what they sell for. Their popular Sundancer series which are luxury sports boats with a sun pad and cabin range from 500000 to 1000000.
We are in no rush and causally look every off season for the next forever boat. Great boat for the bay. It has a lot to do with the design of the hull.
