It is well known that Islam has forbidden image-making drawing and sculpting every animate being that Allaah has created. The intent of the law prohibiting images was that in pagan times it was a direct means and way to shirk associating other beings with allah. According to the Maliki madhab it is not forbidden to draw animate objects but it is makruh disliked. In other words these things were only forbidden because they served as direct means and avenues to shirk. Its haram to draw anything that looks like a person or a creation whether its an animal or your anime characters.

It doesnt matter what. Im not sure about the Hanbali madhab though. Is drawing anime haram.
