A novice and maybe stupid pontoon question.
Should i get a pontoon or deck boat. If style matters you will prefer a deck boat. I myself have had a pontoon boat for years and would highly recommend this type of boat for larger families or people who plan on taking out multiple passengers. Generally speaking its any sort of boat with a large flat deck thats mounted atop two or more metal tubes called pontoons.
A pontoon boat means only one thing. Deck boats have a fiberglass V hull body style whereas pontoon boats sit on aluminum toons high up out of the water. Clean the old deck with a steel brush or light sanding and youre ready to put down new carpet.
Competing boat builders lambasted Tracker for this cheaper method. But theres a slight catch. These can take you a long way with greater speed for a recreational journey.
This feature drove a lot of the popularity for deck boats specifically in intercoastal areas. A pontoon with triple tubes offers even more capacity and gives the boat a higher horsepower rating. In a general sense pontoons are boats that have large flat decks.
It was covered up trapped up for the winter was was not able to walk the deck of it but was able to take a few pics. On the other hand a deck boat is sleeker and sporty. Deck boats usually have coordinated upholstery bimini tops and nice carpet.
Deck boats are designed for speed although the manufacturers always try to maximize the deck space onboard. The old carpet pulled up easily but pulled the top layer of plywood. These holes need to be filled and sanded before new carpet can be laid.
