The film shows the Vietnam experience from the average soldiers point of view. Platoon was released in 1986 and follows the Vietnam War through the eyes of Bravo Company in 1967. Beginning in 1967 Platoon follows the story of Chris Taylor as he is sent among his other young fellow soldiers to Vietnam.

The film closes with hundreds of dead bodies fallen everywhere with no particular organization and no body bags. One cynical and toughened that are below Sergeant Barnes and a hopeful idealistic group below Sergeant Elias. Mostly due to the fact he has neither fought as long as the rest of them nor felt the horrors of war.

He and the other newbies pass by a group of battle-hardened veterans before being shepherded elsewhere. Upon arrival in Da Nang South Vietnam he sees dead soldiers of American soldiers in body bags being loaded into his plane. Chris Taylor Chris Taylor is to some extent the hero in the beginning of the movie as well as being the narrator and the main character.
