Both the Maxum 1800 and 1900 SR3s are drivers boats that give their owners the ability to take on most water sports with precision and ease.
Are maxum boats any good. Some friends who have newer Carvers and cruise them heavily. That Maxum is no longer in business is as much a function of bad luck as it was corporate decision-making. The Maxum is basically the same boat as the Bliner with some extra fancy trim and upholstery.
Boats builders build the hull and then screw on all the goodies from suppliers. Brunswick is a publicly traded company that must deliver value to shareholders. I closely compared the BL Maxum and SeaRay 18ers and the similarities were amazing.
Of course the meridian fit and finish is more advance than maxum. Which sold 1979 boats in the same period. There are a few other makes of boats that seem to have been common out here in California that werent on your list.
Everything from structural to fit and finish issues. Performance would be a whole other category for me. With Cobalt Formula being at the top.
Look up the NADA value. This has been a great boat for my family over the years. Their build quality is extremely good and at 46390 and 52190 respectively they represent pretty good value for money.
The boat business was in shards in 2009. We are selling our 1999 Maxum 3000SCR because its time to go bigger. We have been comparing Carvers to Maxum and SeaRay and have liked the Carvers better - partly because they seem to be more solidly put together.
