Xyz tiles and quadkeys are reserved for the search keyword only. Use the search input to look for the term. They can be added through the insert connection panel, after which the content (eg:
Maptiler offers a variety of tools and services for building and hosting maps. All object types except for xyz tiles and quadkeys can be stored in a collection. The map will be added successfully.
See on your layer panel. The xyz source is used for tile data that is accessed through urls that include a zoom level and tile grid x/y coordinates. Google, openstreet, and esri topo.
See this earlier post for details, but in short, to connect to these services in qgis: Click on tile plus icon and select map and select then click on the plus (+) icon. Opensteetmap is the only default entry.
Tiles use the web mercator coordinate reference system (epsg:3857). Click on the toolbox button (the one has the gears icon). Xyz tiles, also known as slippy map tiles, is a method of expressing map tile mosaics, indexed by (x,y) offsets and zoom levels (z).
