Limp mode happens when there is an issue with the engine the ski will only go slow until the issue is resolved it can happen if the engine is overheated oil level is low fuel level low or battery is weak. In cases of a minor issue the system allows you to operate the engine but with just limited performance. If I launch the boat start it up and cruise non stop it runs perfect.

I suspect you may have a stuck open oil pressure switch but again there should be a Fault warning icon associated witht he Limp home condition.
