Boat sitting low in water.
Pontoon motor too low. The boat is a 21foot tritoon. I went with the Minn Kota Endura C2 for my trolling motor. It helps a little when I trim up the engine but still a lot of water splash on the engine.
Could this be a prop issue or is the motor mounted too low. On the flip side if the outboard is set too low it triggers enormous drag. If the motor power is too low the boat will be incapable of getting on plane as the front of the vehicle will not lift easily.
You can often tell that an outboard is too low if you are experiencing sluggish speeds poor handling excessive spray porpoising or even water pushing up into the cowling. Selling for 8000 or best offer. See pic they are more costly but a tri toon is the way to goi had a 28 pontoon boat with the smaller toons it was like trying to push a elephant through the watereven after I got all the water logged plywood seats out and just had an open deck I was going to purchase another 24 toon to go up the middle to get it up out of the water some.
I have a 2013 Sweetwater 18 foot fish model with a 40hp Merc the motor mount area fills up with water and the engine is covered in water splash at about 3500 rpm. A motor with less than 75 of the maximum will most likely result in unsatisfactory performance. At the dock the plate is just below the surface but even at low speeds it cavitates.
How do you know if your outboard is too low. Low retail for this boat which is needs a lot of work is 10000 with average retail at 12000. From what I understand about pontoons is the way to set motor height is to raise it a bit at a time until it starts losing prop bite then drop it back down.
The motor look like its worth more than the boat. Trying to move and recognizing carpet needs work. If the motor is tilted too far aft the propeller will dig into the water and force the bow up.
