The Arima being a glass boat will be a bit heavier and thus ride a bit better. They ride rough in choppy seas but they will go where you wont. Finally got them out while fighting a rough sea and made it back ok.

The Sea Runner is at home everywhere from big-water lakes to the demanding Northwest Coast. Arimas are very seaworthy boats. Rough water handling will almost entirely come down to hull design and again it will depend on the specific model of Hewes you are looking at.

The variable deadrise hull easily cuts through the chop giving you a comfortable ride even in rough waters. I am thinking about updgrading to a Hewescraft Ocean Pro 22 HT. The Hewescraft Alaskan models are even better in the slop.

The Hewsecraft Ocean Pro would be great if you want a big boat but arent concerned with rough water performance. I have also unintentionally had my 16 3 Hewes out in 4 to 5 foot swells which came out of nowhere one late morning in area 8-2 and it handled the rough water very well. Keep in mind the great lakes is nothing more than a secondary market to them.
