Nidas Functional Equivalence Nidas most notable contribution to translation theory is Functional Equiva-lence which is also well known as Dynamic Equivalence. In brief it is true that Bayars types of equivalence have already been tackled by western theorists but her illustration of equivalence enhances its importance in translation studies. In this approach each word in an expression would be translated to match the word while retaining grammatical sense and the ordering of the passage would be kept as close to the original as possible.
