I was solving the problem by manually toggling the Volume Up F7 and the Volume Down F6 buttons every few seconds to try to suppress the laptops willful urge to mute me.

Does zoom automatically mute. When in Zoom both the sound and my microphone randomly auto mute. In our experience it is not uncommon for a participant to have been muted either BOTH ways or to have FORGOTTEN WHICH mute was set. Zoom mutes all other sounds from my computer.

Heres how you do it. There appears to be no pattern to the amount of time it stays on. Auto muting of sound and microphone at random times when in Zoom.

Unmute Mute. First-time Zoom users may not be aware of the mute feature and might keep talking about personal things even when on a Zoom call. In a Zoom class or conference the Host can mute people and the individual can mute himself.

While logged into Zoom scroll down the Meetings Settings page and toggle the button to the right to turn on the Automatically mute participants as the enter the meeting option see Figure 4 for illustration. In the lefthand menu click Audio. Toggle the Mic Video Settings.

To always start the Zoom meeting with your microphone turned off head to Settings Audio and select Always mute microphone when joining meeting. This will automatically mute participants as they enter the meeting. If the host allows you to talk you will receive a notification.

Click Audio in the sidebar on the left and check. I can unmuted them using f5 and f8 buttons but it will later auto mute again. The one that is a saviour when all of us are taking meetings from home is the ability to automatically mute mic when joining a meeting.
