Give the new tail a good tug to pull down the loop around your knitting needle and create a stitch.

Switching colors in knitting. Pick up the tail end of the new color in your right hand and lay the yarn between the needle tips. No tying, nothing difficult at all. Keeping the tail of the new color in place.
