By dropping an anchor close to the beach and a second anchor in the opposite direction you can locate the boat precisely in the anchorage.

Anchoring Bow and Stern. To stop your boat from blowing sideways tie a line from the other quarter and rolling hitch this to the anchor cable so that they form a bridle. If I am in shallow waters like sand bars I throw the box anchor off the stern close to the boat. An alternative is to take the stern anchor in the dinghy to where out 51 scope and then winch it taut. This anchor setup is widely used as a stern anchor.
