Originally meaning the vertical members of a framework, the phrase “jamb” has evolved to indicate the frame where the window or doorway is mounted.
Standard jamb width. Each exterior jamb has certain portions that will have the same size. For example, the kerf is 1/2” to accept the weatherstrip. Measure the window jamb's depth.

The door jamb is the frame that installs in the wall and supports the door via hinges. Standard door width for interiors is 32 inches. You need to figure out if sheer ply plus finished material plus interior sheet rock.
