BRP recently announced the addition of a fourth model to its line of Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series outboards designed specifically for pontoon boats a 13-liter triple-cylinder motor rated at 65 horsepower which will be available early this spring.

Pontoon outboard motors. It is silent clean and maintenance-free with NO fuel or exhaust smells. With features designed for optimal performance and efficiency you can count on the 135 and 150 day in and day out. The 115-horsepower motor is an adequate size for most pontoon boats.

On the other hand if you have a high-powered boat you would need longer shafts possibly extra-long. There are two main types of propulsion systems for boats outboard motors and inboard engines. Outboard engines are designed specifically for boating whereas inboard motors are usually just automobile engines that have been modified for marine use.

The truth is that the outboard motor shaft length for your pontoon boat depends majorly on your pontoons engine size. Electric outboard motors have got a lot of attention these days. Pontoon boats with smaller engines are expected to go with shorter shafts.

The Evinrude Pontoon Series already includes 90- 115- and 150-hp models. For instance my new Barletta pontoon boat with a Mercury outboard motor required maintenance after the first 100 hours driven. They are huge heavy chunks of machinery that will deliver massive amounts of horsepower and as such are designed for bigger boats.

They are suitable for low-speed operations and an auxiliary power source. It contains the engine gearbox propeller and jet drive. Pontoon boats fall into the small watercraft category hence why outboard boats are very significant to Pontoons when it comes to propulsion systems.

135-150 HP The BF135 and BF150 deliver powerful peace of mind. The bow-mounted motor on the other hand is considered the best for anglers. Essentially a large motor is meant for boats measuring 37 feet or longer.
