For powerboats there are two ways to adjust trim either with the enginesdrives or with trim tabs.
Pontoon motor trim angle. Neutral trim occurs when the motor is parallel to the stern. The transom angle is notable because it determines how flexible the boat trimming capacity is. 40 30.
If you do run aground you can tilt the motor up an inch or two and hopefully be able to back off. Most outboard motors and stern drives have power trim that lets a user change the angle of the thrust by tilting the drive or motor in or out to change the running angle. Trim indown and outup until you feel this freeing or lightening in the steering.
Pontoons sit stern-low to allow for passengers up front. To get the nose up out of the water youd need to trim it up some. Instead trim it up until the prop begins gasping air then drop it back down at least two inches.
My new bently has a 90hp merc. Trim will have neglegible effect on a 99hp. All outboard motors have an adjustable trim angle.
Trimmed in occurs when the motor is as close to the stern as possible. If you keep on trimming out the propeller will eventually reach an angle where it goes too far and loses grip revs climb and speed decreases. The optimum trim angle varies by motor boat conditions and speed.
Of course there are many ways to measure your boats transom angle. If you have a large enough engine to run strakes pontoons much more efficient and speedy. Once you accelerate the bow creates a wall of water if you trim up the boat lifts up and out of the wall of water and gets on plane for a smooth ride.
