In some jurisdictions a parents right to use corporal punishment is provided for in legislation eg New South Wales while in others it is provided for by the common law judge-made law eg Victoria.
Is it against the law to hit your child with a belt. However I doubt that any court will find that hitting a child with a belt slapping a child across the face or cutting the child to be reasonable discipline. Objects such as belts or rulers must never be used on a child and a child must never be hit or slapped on the face or head. Your hand becomes a fist the switch becomes a belt the folded newspaper becomes a wooden spoon and now what began as seemingly innocent escalates into child abuse.
Why set yourself up for that. Forms of corporal punishment include hitting a childs bottom slapping grabbing shoving or hitting a child with a belt or paddle. Any use of force on a child cannot be degrading inhumane or result in harm or the prospect of harm.
However most likely DCFS will investigate you along with the police. These laws specifically include individuals like teachers and strangers. Children in Scotland now have the same protection in.

Do you really want to take a chance of that happening. Objects such as belts or rulers must never be used on a child. It is against the law for a parent or carer to smack their child except where this amounts to reasonable punishment.
The defence of reasonable punishment that exists in England Northern Ireland and Wales no longer counts in Scotland. You may or may not be arrested and convicted of a crime if you hit a child with a belt that leave bruises and marks. However if your parents are using more than a little bit of force or they hurt you more than they should for someone your age or maturity this can be against the law.
