Using 3/viii″ ribbon for this project creates a pretty wide finished lei (mine is about 1.5″ across) that shows upward actually well in.
How to make a ribbon lei with 6 ribbons. Put #1 through #2's loop. Pick up a length of ribbon. The example is made with two colors of three/8″ ribbon.
Fold again and look for the next. I have another two videos with 2 and 4 ribbons. Go down to the spool end of the thread and cut it free, leaving about a foot extra.
Traditionally, flowers make up a lei, though, in recent times, a host of stuff like ribbons, money, or candy go into its making. With long end of #1, make another loop and loop it through #2. Wrap each piece of ribbon around a separate card.

I used about a 1/2. Fold the ribbon and stick the needle through the dot you made 2 inches from the end. Slip one ribbon, ribbon 2 (the dark blue ribbon), through the other ribbon, ribbon 1 (the white and light blue ribbon).
Tighten so there is no space between ribbons. The stitch length is better longer because the 2 ribbons together are so thick. Barely overlap a 5/8 ribbon and 1 1/2 ribbon and stitch together.
