How to make a headband with elastic amp. I got a great deal on elastic from pick your plum a while ago. Take your 61cm length of fold over elastic (foe) and feed your ring on to about half way so it is out of the way. Take pattern piece #1 and fold it in half (matching the two longer ends).
Make sure to leave about two inches open on each side, and leave. Layer fabrics with right sides together with a strip of elastic pinned to one end. Make sure to secure the elastic.
I got a combo of fold over elastic and more decorative elastics so i used a mix of both to the make the headbands. Protect the end from raveling by stitching over it in a tight zigzag stitch and trim. I use my back stitch several times to make sure the elastic doesn’t pull out of the ribbon when you are using it.
Cut your elastic to length and heat seal the ends. Push the folded under ends over the stitched end and stitch again. I studied 7 headbands from stores to figure this out.
Sew all the way down the length of the ribbon. Place your elastic closure on one end of the lace, right sides together. Stitch it down with a straight stitch.
Then, sew both longer sides shut. Stop at the end before. From fabric to plastic, i’m sure there’s a diy headband in this list perfect for your.
