The sea anchor wont deploy in shallow water. Probably the fastest production boats. The sail is much easier to craft and is also quieter.

This was my understanding of the experiment someone did. The base can be crafted from Barrels Buoy Balls or Tires found aboard Derelict Vessels and also Sticks. The Raft the Karve and the Longship.

While the Raft is less stable then the Life Boat it is approximately 15x faster 2x with a Boat Motor. Rafts are created from three components - a base a floor and propulsion. To make a Crude Axe all you need is a Stick a Rock and some Lashing Rope.
