I have a 1992 60hp evinrude.
Evinrude outboard bogs down at full throttle. If its not pumping enough fuel to keep the bowl filled it will lean out and the engine could stumble. But as soon as you put it in gear it bogs down and just wont go. Motor is bogging down when i open up the throttle.
If i let up on throttle and idle in gear it runs fine. Rebuilt all carburators replaced spark plugs and compression us fine. Evinrude Outboard Parts Forum.
But now im thinkin we have too much weight in the boat. This adjustment needs to be checked whenever the throttle linkage is disturbed at all. Check the gap on all the spark plugs.
Are all throttle butterflies wide open at the full throttle position. 3 Check stator output. I take off again and same thing runs under throttle for 10 to 15 sec then starts cutting in and out.
The coil assemblies of Mercury outboards which are often referred to as the stator are somewhat infamous for being the source of problems. I have a 1998 Yamaha 150 on an Outrage 20. When it happens we stop the motor take it out of the water for a minute or so start it back up and it works fine.
On your engine its real easy to mis-adjust the linkage that operates the carb. Look for burnedcrackedmissing insulation. 2 Check if the temperature sender in the cylinder head connects to the power-pack.
