The company acquired theCosmos nickel complex near Leinster for 245 million in 2015 after low nickel prices forced former owner Glencore to close the mine and put it on the market. The ore is massive nickeliron sulphides violaritepyrite and pentlanditepyrrhotite with a design head grade of 75 nickel. The Odysseus project hosts 73mt at 24 per cent nickel within the broader Cosmos nickel complex which hosts a resource of 18mt at 26 per cent nickel.
Ore mined will be fed via conveyor from the production shaft head frame to the surface stockpile. A definitive feasibility study on the Odysseus deposit has been completed and additional work is under way to bring in further deposits AM5AM6 to the production profile. The Odysseus project is situated on a granted mining lease in the Cosmos Nickel Complex which is 30km away from Leinster.
