A catamaran is much better than a monohull in many ways.
Catamaran or monohull liveaboard. Multihulls include catamarans two hulls and trimarans three hulls. There is plenty of space for everything you need at this size but not so big that you need a crew to handle the vessel. A liveaboard is about enjoying your house on the water.
You have almost twice as much space as a monohull. I would highly suggest one if its in your price range. Catamarans offer a smoother ride than a monohull especially in our rough water.
The advantage to these boats are shallow draft speed underway and a lot of liveaboard space. Not a bad layout. Downwind cats feel like a house gliding on the ocean at speed while monos roll from side to side.
Most people would agree that the berths in a monohull are much more spacious than in a catamaran. We sourced the technical specifications of these vessels from maritime records and directly from sailboat manufacturers. They used the space wisely.
In contrast a catamaran made for hardcore sailing is more about speed and excitement. In short catamarans win hands down over monohulls when it comes to the size of the space youll be living in. They also offer safer anchorage and are easy to control.
A catamaran liveaboard is much better in a following sea as a monohull will plow under the wave ahead as it comes down. Makes travel in shallow waters easy too. My 34 catamaran is much larger than my 45 monohull was inside and out.
