My 349 left the factory the morning of my visit I opted for a shoal keel Chesapeake Bay.
Beneteau oceanis 35 vs jeanneau 349. She is built since 2016 by Bénéteau France. The Beneteau 361 due to a charter experience was high on the want list but way outside the budget. Even with the autopilot physically disconnected it felt like steering through.
Its more than a foot beamier than the J 112. Whats she like to sail. The Oceanis 351 interiors have been rethought and their exteriors redesigned delivering significant developments and offering a choice of four versions in all.
Now owned a Jeanneau so 35 the so 35 leaves the Benes for deaddont get me wrong the Benes where a nice comfortable reasonable good sailing yacht but the Jeanneau just feels and sails like a proper yacht points well sails lovely of the wind and doesnt creek as mush or slam as bad. For a yacht so responsive to the helm thanks in part to her twin rudders - it was a shame the steering system was robbing it of any feeling. 49 feet up mainly SO 49 54 and the comparable in Beneteau 47 57 - fully loaded yacht with full package Overall comments if possible from owners with experience in both models.
Iv owned a bene 411 a Bene 381 over the last 6 yrs. The Keel and centerboard version features a centerboard inside of a short fin-keel allowing shoal draft while maintaining upwind capabilities. Fifi is a grey hulled Beneteau Oceanis 35 from 2015.
I am interested in understanding the difference between the beneteau oceanis 311 and jeanneau sun odyssey 32 now that both are made by the same parent company. The large hatches for the aft cabins under the cockpit benches are great for ventilation but they seem to take valuable space that could have been use for cockpit storage bins. The J is the longer boat and so the interior of the J is every bit as nice in terms of component size and there is more elbow room.
