Are yamaha jet boats reliable. A sterndrive engine based on an automotive block is much heavier and larger. In my estimation these account for a very small percentage of the number of boats represented on YJB. As soon as they cross that 30-mph threshold they double in decibels.

Beyond PWCs they also offer boat and outboard engines too. Jet boats go an average of 25 mph but can go way beyond that if the water jets are more efficient around 60 mph. In general the non-supercharged Sea-Doo Sportsters are considered much more reliable as the supercharger always needs more maintenance and a higher chance of malfunctions.

It is one of the reasons I personally selected Yamaha. Yamaha engines are very reliable. With most boats it isnt necessary to have ear protection while youre out on the water.

MerCruisers 43 MPI measures 28 by 30 by 22 inches and tips the scale at 775 pounds without the Alpha sterndrive. The Merc powered ones tend to be slow and unreliable. Something that doesnt break down all the time and keeps going.

When i got the boat back from Jet Ski Of Miami the boat ran well for about 15 minutes then both engines stalled out of no where. And without an outdrive or prop trailer launching is easier. The less moving parts you have the less something can go wrong and thus the more reliable it is.

I realize that Yamaha is well known for their reliability but if I have my facts straight it sounds as though these engines will spin at 7K-10K rpm at cruising speeds. Dock a sterndrive boat and its jet-drive counterpart side by side and the difference is obvious. Sport boats like the AR190 have helped make Yamaha one of the best brands on the water.
